History of CMI

Originally, Cornerstone Ministries was formed to strengthen the Christian Church on the Navajo Reservation. Cornerstone founder, Pete J. Belon currently serves as Executive Director of Cornerstone. He also helped with anything they needed done including church planting, setting ministers’ fellowship meetings, workshops, mini-conferences, and homes repairs. In 2001, CMI was incorporated.

Today, CMI and its Board of Directors works with Christian pastors of All Nations and numerous churches and communities across the Reservation.

Many organizations serve Navajo and other Native American communities.  CMI is unique in that it was formed by a Christian Native American who understands the challenges, the cultural setting and the needs experienced by those who are bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to the Four Corners Area.
