Cornerstone Training and Resource Center

CMI and its partners work to establish Hope as the primary asset in tribal communities.  Crown Point is a good example of the strategies being employed across All Nations.  Smith Lake School, an unused facility made available to CMI, is being restructured to provide the following:

  • Training for community leaders.
CMI has, through large conferences, been training local leaders since 1996, estimating that over 250 leaders have been involved in these conferences. Training includes a diverse list of topics including strategic and operational planning, managing projects and organizations, creating value-added Boards of Advisors and Directors, building financial capability, marketing and development, and more.

A section of the Smith Lake School will be renovated to serve as a training center for these leaders. This will enable us to reduce the costs incurred by past conferences, thereby making them available for virtually every Christian pastor from the region.
  • Locating and managing resources including food, building and other supplies.
8,500 square feet will be converted for use as a Resource Center, for distribution of supplies including food from the Northern Arizona Food Bank and other food banks and gifts of Bibles, blankets, toys for kids,
and other items from Messick Ministries of California and Triple Cords Ministries of Indiana with their partners. Two years ago we worked with Samaritan’s Purse and helped reach kids with 4500 shoes boxes that went to the Apache and Navajo Nations. CMI and and about 160 churches have been participating in these distributions for four years. Building and supplies were brought in from World Vision that helped World Servants and other organizations rebuild homes in different parts of the Nation.
  • Proving a space for children and youth activies.
We will create a “Gymnatorium” which will provide space for meeting, recreation, and play for children and youth. 5,000 square feet of the building will be dedicated to kids with the focus on involving them in new and healthy activities.
  • Developing vocational training programs that lead to job creation.
Plans include the build out of space as a vocational training center to prepare and build a local work force, skilled in manufacturing processes.
